The temperature-controlled shipment of pharmaceuticals is not only technically complicated, but is also highly regulated, not least due to a further tightening of the EU directive on Good Distribution Practice (GDP) in 2013. It becomes ever more demanding when the supply chain also includes the pre- and onward shipment by Truck as well as where the main leg includes airfreight transport. In this case, the especially strict safety regulations for air transport must also be observed. We have dealt with this topic and have developed a holistic logistics concept, which ensures maximum transport quality and safety along the complete supply chain. For this, we have initially arranged to have the logistics process audited by the EIPL European Institute for Pharma Logistics in accordance with GDP, including the equipment qualification for the pharma-compliant transport of airfreight pallets. Since 2014, we have relied on a special airfreight trailer from the trailer manufacturer van Eck, which involved a tailor-made development for this application and also the GDP qualification.
